Baby Feet
The baby feet have a very busy program ahead: to raise and to lower, to rise and to ease up, to stretch and to bend... The caresses in the baby feet stimulate their intelligence. The pink feet of the babies are very smooth and measure almost the same wide as high.
It is difficult to resist the enchant of baby feet, tickle them, play with them is a good exercise to bond with your child and also stimulates the nerve connections from the feet to the brain in charge of the learning process.
Playing with the baby feet: the pinching, caresses and sucking that the baby does to his own feet produces satisfaction and stimulate all the parts of their brain. If we play with his feet we help its development.
Until babies learn to walk, their feet are very soft and flat. The arch develops when they start to walk. Even when the baby is lying down, the feet are never still. They keep moving them preparing the muscles for the job of walking.
It takes approximately 12 months for the babies to learn how to walk. Every time the baby plays with their feet, exercise the muscles getting ready to walk, the mixture of game and gymnastics also entails the coordination of pelvis and the joints of knees and feet, fundamental requirement for the correct development of the motor process.
Once the baby starts walking, the layer of fat under the feet disappears, the feet get larger and the arch starts its formation.
The formation underneath the big toe is fundamental to make roll the foot and move the weight from the heel towards ahead, since it contributes to the spine to be less compressed each step. To that it also contributes the arc, that cushions the pressure that receives from the weight.
A trick of nature: The toes of the baby bend when the hands take hold them. That is how they increase agility.
The great majority of the deformations or incorrect positions of the foot in new born are not very important. Sometimes they take place during the last few weeks of pregnancy, when the feet must adapt to the lack of space in the uterus.
Some examples like the foot adducto and the foot thallus. The foot adducto is slightly twisted towards inside, it can get worse if the baby spends too much time facing down on his front, for that reason is good to lay down on his side. That deformation has an easy remedy, sometimes is enough with a smooth massage passing your hand through the outer edge of the foot.
In the case of the call foot thallus, the bone of the heel is loftier than normal, that's why the foot is excessively flexible. This deformation is not very serious since normally it disappears on its own. Using massages advised by the doctor, the parents can help to correct the deformation of the foot thallus.
There are two more serious deformations. The first is well-known as foot in rocking chair, in which case the plant of the foot is convex and requires obligatory surgery. And second the zambo foot, that can be correct with a plaster cast and physiotherapy, in some cases the foot needs an operation but the possibilities of a total recuperation are very high.
