Help For Relieving Cramps During Ovulation

A high percentage of women experience some form of discomfort during their monthly cycle. Twenty percent of women also experience cramps during ovulation. Ovulation commonly occurs two weeks after the first day of your last period. The pain is usually caused when the egg is released from the ovary to the fallopian tube. There are some remedies that may help ease the pain during ovulation.

The most important is to get plenty of rests. Doctors recommend drinking 8 glasses of water a day, whether you are ovulating or not, and this seems to help. Heat also helps cramps during ovulation. You can try a heating pad on the area that is hurting, either the right or left side of your abdomen. Or you could try taking a warm bath that will also help you relax. Other options include over the counter pain medication or anti-inflammatory medicines. Always call your doctor if you continue to have tense pains that last more than a few days or OTC remedies do not seem to help.

There are some symptoms, along with cramping during ovulation, that you should never ignore and should take emergency action for. If you ever vomit blood or have blood in your stool, call your doctor immediately or if your doctor is not available go to the nearest emergency rooms. Other signs to look for are faintness, dizziness, increased pain, or if you are having pain during urination. You can also have a swollen abdomen or difficulty breathing. These are all signs that something is wrong and you need to seek doctor's care.
