Autism Detected In Early Childhood

Autism is a developmental disability that is usually detected in early childhood. Autism affects the way children react to the world, other people, and how they communicate. Signs that your child may have autism show up in early childhood. These include difficulty communicating, repetitive behavior, limited interests, or becoming upset over minor changes. Some children with autism have hypersensitivity with their senses.

Many institutes that deal with autism have early childhood and inclusion programs. These programs help both the children and parents. They help by teaching the autistic children how to give and receive caring. They teach learning through lessons that autistic children can understand. Some parents choose to enroll their children in institutes for disabilities so they will feel normal. Other parents choose to enroll their children in regular schools, with special classes.

Studies have shown that as many as 12 of every 10,000 children suffer from autism. It is also much more common in boys than girls. Doctors have not yet determined the exact cause of autism. Many studies suggest that autism may develop because of biological and environmental factors. These can include exposure to virus before birth or a problem with their immune system. Other studies target the brain as the cause. Abnormal slowing of the brain before birth is one theory to the development of autism, while chemicals in the brain is another.

There is no cure or prevention for autism, but when it is caught in early childhood it is more manageable. Training and teaching are the best treatment for autism.
