Your Child and Their New Developments
From a time a baby is born, parents wait for them to start interacting. You cannot wait until they start talking and walking, and so on. Every parent also wonders if their child is developing normally compared to other children. We read books on early childhood and physical development to try to compare our child to what is considered normal. You can also surf the net to find studies on these subjects that show an average age for each development.
The truth is all children physically develop at his or her own pace. Just because your first-born started crawling at 6 months, does not mean your second born will too. Your children's early childhood developments will include talking, walking, and learning to write. As these things happen you want to watch their physical development carefully. You want to watch and see how they are walking. Are they steady, or does it seem they are having more difficulties than the normal balance problems. As they learn to write you may watch to see which hand they primarily use. You also want to watch to see how they hold a crayon or pencil and how they use it.
If you have any worries concerning your children's early childhood or their physical development, you should ask your pediatrician. Pediatricians are trained to watch out for the warning signs for children who are not developing normal or at a pace they think they should be. Most likely your child will be talking, walking, and writing normal in no time.
