Children's Growth Charts

Creating your own infant height and weight chart is easy to do with a little bit of research. You can check out several websites online to get started, or consult with your child's pediatrician for assistance. Basically you just need some lined legal paper or graph paper, a ruler, and a pen or pencil. Depending on how old your baby is when you begin charting their size, you can organize your document in terms of height and length, or height, weight and body mass index. Generally the first type mentioned is used for babies age zero to two years of age, and the second type mentioned will be used for children ages two through twenty years old. Infant height and weight charts can also be set up in a discrete location on a wall in your home.

Do you recall standing against the wall each year on your birthday and watching with excitement while an adult relative marked where your head landed with a pencil? It was always fascinating to see the evidence of your growth from year to year. It's likely your kids will feel the same way. Charts of this nature also serve the purpose of keeping track of your child's health with verifiable evidence of problems that may need to be dealt with. If your child needs more exercise, you can come up with a set of goals, or set aside at least forty five minutes twice per week for him or her to be active. If they are underweight, you can make sure they're ingesting enough healthy food in their diet.
