Fun Baby Shower Arts and Crafts

Sometimes the best part of a party is the favors. Remember going to your friend's birthday party as a kid, and hoping to get a "goodie bag" to take home? Usually it contained candy, arts and crafts or other fun items. Why limit this tradition to childhood? The next time you host another person's baby shower, or even hold your own, take a little time before the festivities begin to create and make your own baby shower favors. It's much easier and less daunting that it might sound. For a simple, easy favor, decorate jars of jam and tie the caps with ribbon, or make your own soap. You can find glycerin at some arts and crafts stores with instructions. And when you make your own baby shower favors, your guests will feel so special and impressed, the concept might catch on at their shower.

If you're feeling really ambitious, enlist your kids to create some beaded jewelry or embroidery floss bracelets. They'll be excited that you asked, and may even have some suggestions of their own. Another idea is to wrap homemade candies up in tulle and tie them with a ribbon as well. Can you knit? Get out your old knitting book and search for baby gifts. I guarantee you'll be inundated with adorable patterns for booties, hats, baby blankets and more. Several take less than a half hour each, so if you plan your time out in advance and schedule just a little bit of time each day to devote to this craft, you'll have some fantastic unforgettable favors for the day of the shower. Have fun!
