The best time to take a pregnancy test is a week after ovulation, because conception takes place and shows up on a pregnancy test after implantation. If the pregnancy test comes back negative, do not give up but try again next month. If the test comes back positive consult your doctor to get everything checked out and confirm your test results.

If you are using the calculating ovulation method and still are not getting pregnant do not worry. Some people take up to a year before this method works. You may want to consult a doctor if you have been trying for over a year, if you are worried your age is a factor, or can not successfully calculate ovulation because of irregular cycles.
