Health Classes use fake babies for practice

Lots of health classes in junior high schools and high schools require students to participate in childcare practice. Usually the students are given a bag of flour or an egg to take care of for a month or more. Paired up with other students to act as mother and father, the experiment can be eye opening, humorous, and often both. Some parenting tips for preteens that are endorsed are patience, regular feedings, and general responsibility. Most kids don't have a clue what is required from being a parent, and it's a great idea for them to learn; either to appreciate what their own parents have sacrificed on their behalf, or to prevent them from engaging in unprotected sex and risk becoming a parent themselves before they are truly ready. Parenting tips for preteens can run the gauntlet from how to change diapers, to how to feed newborns, to how to juggle such parenting tasks between mothers and fathers.

Children who own pets occasionally grow tired of them, or slough off their duties to an already burdened parent, so the bag of flour or egg exercise will force them to act responsibly 24 / 7 instead of only when it's convenient or fun. Lessons to be learned from health classes that employ this technique may last a lifetime if done properly and taken seriously by all involved. If your child is recruited to perform in this action, offer them tips and advice from their own raising. They'll probably be curious and wonder how you were able to do it!
