Sperm and conception

Sperm's Roles

High-count sperm and conception are most likely to happen when intercourse is timed every two days around the time of ovulation. If performed too frequently, sperm-counts are lower, reducing the odds of success. Age does not necessarily play a part in the rate of fertility among men, rather it is the lifestyle that makes a difference. The use of hot tubs, saunas, overheating at the workplace, or having fevers can also have an impact with a reduction of high-count sperm. Emotional stress, substance abuse, smoking, obesity, a poor diet, and even lubricants can also hinder their production.

Strong sperm has been linked to the X chromosome, and weaker sperm has been linked to the Y chromosome. Because the stronger sperm can last longer within the female vagina, conception that results from low-count sperm when intercourse is too frequent would most likely be from the stronger sperm, producing a girl. But, if having sexual intercourse at the exact time of ovulation, any weaklings found in the high-count sperm will just as easily produce a boy.

While there are several herbal remedies and dietary suggestions in order to boost the number of high-count sperm, it is best to consult with your doctor beforehand. All of the controlling factors, once eliminated, usually are quickly successful in producing high-count sperm and conception more easily. If infertility is suspected, an exam and tests might be run to determine the cause. Surgery, prescription medicines, and assisted reproductive technologies are suggested on a regular basis, and have been the answer to many men who had thought they would never be fertile.
