Parenting Made Easy
Success in school means parent involvement, very important.

Success in school means parent involvement

Almost every parent wants their child to succeed in school. After all, school is the training ground that will prepare then for their adult lives. However, with regard to success in school, parent involvement is key. When you get involved with your child's school and schoolwork, you provide your child with the motivation, incentive, and inspiration to succeed at the tasks set before them.Recent studies have proven that success in school means parent involvement and children whose parents are involved in their child's educational processes tend to do better than students whose parents are not involved with the child's education. Being involved does not require extensive amounts of time, something that is in short supply for most working parents.

While it would be nice if every parent could attend all their child's school activities, for working parents this is frequently not possible. However, there are some things you can do at home, with your child, that will contribute to their success in school.

Always make sure you know if your child has homework or not. Assist your student with his/her homework, and review it when it is completed. When your child brings home his/her completed work from school, review it with the child complimenting them on their good grades, or asking if they understood the assignment if the grade was less than acceptable.
Stay in contact with your child's teacher. While parent/teacher conferences can resolve problem areas, a simple phone call can sometimes work just as well.

Keep your home supplied with learning aids like maps, globes, magazines, books, and anything else your child might need to succeed in school. And, finally, show your child that you are interested in what they are doing in school because success in school means parent involvement.
